Job Description

A part-time occupational therapist role is available in a K-12 school setting serving a diverse student population in Cambridge, MA. This position focuses on providing occupational therapy support primarily for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ages 3 to 19 years. The role involves assisting primarily with evaluations and delivering therapeutic interventions tailored to individual student needs.

Employment is scheduled from August 25, 2025, through April 17, 2026, with a potential extension depending on leave requirements. The commitment is 16 hours per week, offering a balanced workload while allowing you to make a meaningful impact in the school community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations for students with hearing impairments
• Delivering therapeutic interventions to support student development and school participation
• Collaborating with educators, speech therapists, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Participating in ongoing professional development, including American Sign Language (ASL) lessons provided by the school to enhance communication with students

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of school-based occupational therapy experience
• Knowledge of occupational therapy practices within home health and healthcare settings is advantageous
• Experience or willingness to learn ASL is strongly encouraged to support effective communication
• Passion for working with the deaf and hard of hearing population
