Grants and Fundraising Manager Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House
Position Type: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Advancement and Fundraising
Salary: $55,000 to $65,000
Schedule: Monday & Friday 9:00 AM 5:00 PM; Hybrid work option available (work from home one day per week)
Position Overview: The Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House seeks a dedicated and strategic Grants and Fundraising Manager to lead our resource development efforts. This dual-role position combines expert grant writing and management with comprehensive fundraising strategy implementation to support our mission of strengthening our community through innovative programs and essential services.
Responsibilities
- Research and Identification: Conduct comprehensive research to identify high-potential grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and corporate funders that align with organizational goals and program needs.
- Proposal Development: Prepare and submit compelling, well-researched grant proposals including detailed narratives, accurate budgets, and comprehensive supporting documentation within specified deadlines.
- Compliance and Reporting: Manage all grant reporting requirements, track deliverables, and ensure full compliance with funder guidelines and federal/state regulations.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with program officers, grantors, and funding agencies through regular communication, site visits, and strategic stewardship activities.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with program staff, finance team, and leadership to coordinate grant activities, gather necessary data, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Financial Monitoring: Monitor grant expenditures and budget adherence to ensure compliance with financial regulations and optimize resource allocation.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, organized records of all grant activities, correspondence, deadlines, and outcomes using grant management systems.
- Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management regarding grant pipeline, funding trends, and success metrics.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals and support long-term organizational sustainability.
- Donor Relations: Build and maintain meaningful relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners through personalized outreach, regular communication, and thoughtful stewardship.
- Event Management: Plan, organize, and execute successful fundraising events including galas, community gatherings, and donor appreciation events to maximize revenue and community engagement.
- Campaign Leadership: Design and manage targeted fundraising campaigns, overseeing project timelines, compelling messaging, and volunteer coordination.
- Prospect Research: Identify, research, and cultivate major gift prospects and potential funding sources through database analysis, community networking, and wealth screening.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate and comprehensive donor records, process gifts efficiently, and manage databases to support effective relationship building and regulatory compliance.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with development committee, board members, and volunteers to amplify fundraising efforts and leverage community connections.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in grant writing and fundraising for nonprofit organizations
- Proven track record of successfully securing grants and consistently meeting or exceeding fundraising targets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
- Proficiency in grant management software, donor databases (such as Salesforce, Raiser's Edge), and Microsoft Office Suite
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and foundation funding guidelines and compliance requirements
- Experience with budget development and financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with community-based organizations serving diverse populations
- Familiarity with Cambridge/Boston area funding landscape and local philanthropic community
- Grant writing certification or relevant professional development training
- Experience with planned giving, major gift solicitation, and capital campaigns
- Bilingual capabilities reflecting community demographics (Spanish preferred)
- Experience with online fundraising platforms and digital marketing tools
